Faith is a spiritual virtue with turnaround forces embedded within it. At new birth, old things pass away like a dream of the night, and all things become new. If nothing is changing in your life, faith is not at work. When faith takes the stage, things are bound to change. We have established that faith is work. As it is written: …shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works (James 2:18). We work to access faith, which comes by hearing and understanding the Word of God (Romans 10:17; Jude 1:20). Therefore, every aspect of faith is work, and lazy believers don’t have a place in it. You cannot build your faith by sitting down and wishing; you build your faith by working the Word.
It is important to know that faith is not a religious ideology but a spiritual mystery. As it is written: Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience (1 Timothy 3:9; Hebrew 11:11). Faith is a mystery and not a belief system that transmits divine strength among others. Faith is not a principle or strategy; it is a spiritual weapon. The Word says: Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked (Ephesians 6:16). Faith is a spiritual weapon that operates in the realm of the Spirit for our victory, breakthrough, triumph and conquest. Also, faith is not a belief system; it is engaging with the power of God. The Word says: And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God (1 Corinthians 2:4-5; Luke 8:43-48). God’s power flows to deal with our obstacles.
According to Jesus, it is to everyone according to his/her faith, not according to prevailing circumstances (Matthew 9:29). That is why men of faith live above prevailing circumstances. Also, every great story in the kingdom is by grace through faith. Paul said: But by the grace of God I am what I am… (1 Corinthians 15:10). However, faith facilitates access to grace (Ephesians 2:8). So, faith defines our access to grace, and it is the grace of God that makes great. Therefore, commit to building your faith because your life will not be worth more than the worth of your faith.
How Powerful is Faith?
- Faith provokes the healing power of God that makes us whole. All through the Scripture, Jesus kept saying: thy faith has made you whole (Luke 8:48; Matthew 9:29). Healing delivers on faith, and we need this today because most sicknesses and diseases are far beyond the capacity of medical science. Many sicknesses and diseases will never be diagnosed because they are raw oppressions of the devil. The only way to silence the oppression of the devil in your life is by engaging the weapon of faith (Ephesians 6:16).
- Faith has the power to subdue scientific facts. Faith mesmerises and dislodges science. Many are victims of their knowledge, leaving the answer behind. Many times, doctors have said, “We cannot go any further except God.” Don’t be enslaved by science; come alive by faith (John 11:39-41; 1 Timothy 6:20-21).
- Faith has the power to suspend natural laws. According to Genesis 8:22, seed time and harvest shall not cease while the earth remains, but Israel fed for 40 years directly from heaven (Exodus 16:8, 35). The law of seed time was suspended, and that happened by faith (Hebrews 11:29). Naturally, the flesh will roast inside the fire, but those three Hebrew boys were in the fire, and there was no smell of fire on them because they trusted in their God (Daniel 3:24-28). So, build your faith and starve your doubt to live a triumphant life.
- Faith has the power to set free from the law of sin and death – (Romans 8:2; Habakkuk 2:4). Faith can stop any siege of sin at will because Jesus already paid the price (Isaiah 53:5). The righteousness that thrives is the righteousness obtained by faith (Romans 3:27, 1:17). We are free by faith in the finished works of Christ.
To keep your faith growing, you must crave for the understanding of testimonies from the scriptures and the testimonies of others because they are faith boosters (Psalm 119:111, 144; Revelation 12:11). Also, beware of going after other gods because it paralyses faith (James 1:7-8). Going after other gods will make God abandon you; God cannot stand double dealings (Psalm 16:4; 1 Kings 18:21). The devil has nothing in store for you; if he gives you one, he will take seven back from you. So, it is time to return home to your heavenly Father!
