Unveiling the Breakthrough Power of Love

According to the Scriptures, every child of God is ordained for the top. As it is written: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid (Matthew 5:14). Christ came to raise us out of the dunghill and make us sit among princes of His people (Psalm 113:5-8; 2 Corinthians 8:9). However, one of the vital forces that establishes our access to the top is a genuine love for God. A genuine love for God is the mystery behind supernatural breakthroughs in life. The Bible says:  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28; 1 Corinthians 2:9; Luke 5:26; Matthew 11:28). The anchor proof of our love for God is delightsome obedience to His instructions. As it is written: For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3; John 14:21; Psalm 112:1-4). So, our love for God is not theoretical; it is practical.

What is love? According the Scripture, it is a God first lifestyle (Matthew 22:36-40; Matthew 6:33).It also means serving God’s interest on the earth, and God’s greatest interest on the earth today is the salvation of souls. As far as God is concerned, a saved soul is worth more than the wealth of the world put together (Matthew 16:26; Luke 15:7). So, when you choose to partner with Him in that, you will enjoy His favour without calling for it.

What are the characteristics of love?

  • It is not a gift but a choice (Exodus 32:26; Joshua 24:15).
  • It is not what we know, say, quote or teach, but what we do. Love is about open action, and among other things,we prove the sincerity of our love through our giving(1 John 3:18; 2 Corinthians 8:8; Proverbs 28:27).
  • It is never offended in God. Taking offence at God can be deadly (Job 13:15; Matthew 11:6).
  • There is no fear in love. Genuine love is the cure for all fears (Psalm 23:4, 27:1-3; 1 John 4:18). Everybody is a victim of what they fear, and nature abhors a vacuum. So, you are either in love or in fear. When you are in love with Jesus, fear clears the way, and when you are out of love, fear dominates you. When fear is gone, faith comes alive to secure the victory you desire.
  • It engenders favour. When you are walking in love, you are well favoured (1 Chronicles 29:3, 28:4).
  • It is manifested through the right attitude towards God. The right attitude here means God is always right; He is never to blame. God is not your problem but your solution. If anything goes wrong with you, you are responsible (Romans 3:4; Job 34:10).

What is it in love that engenders breakthroughs?

  • If you truly love God, you abide in Him, and He abides in you, thereby making you a breakthrough personality on the earth. No iron gate can stop the way against God, and because He is in you, no barrier can stop your way forward (1 John 4:16; Psalm 24:7-10, 114:1-3).
  • Every true lover of God is ordained a pathfinder, trailblazer and pacesetter. If you stay in love with God, you will end up as a living wonder on earth (1 Corinthians 2:9; Hebrews 6:12).

The love for God is not theoretical; it is practical. So, if you love God, it must show in your commitment to studying and practising the Word. You cannot love Him and not love to hear from Him, and then act accordingly (Psalm 119:97, 162, 112:1-3; Luke 6:46). If you love God, you will be committed to fellowship. You won’t struggle to be in fellowship; you would always be eager to be in His presence (Psalm 84:1-2; Psalm 122:1; Hebrews 10:25).
