While the top is our place in redemption, there is what we must do to realise it. We are redeemed as the salt of the earth, the light of the world and a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden (Matthew 5:13-14). That is our place in redemption. Last week, in our quest to know the demands of success, we examined the factor of divine direction. This week, we will examine the divine wisdom factor. The Bible says: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee (Proverbs 4:7-9). This qualifies the place of wisdom in our quest to realise our success heritage in Christ.
Please understand that creation is the greatest success story of all time; it is the most tested and proven, the most enduring and outstanding event in human history (Genesis 1:1-31). However, creation is the wisdom of God in raw display. As it is written: The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens (Proverbs 3:19; see also Psalm 104:24; Jeremiah 10:12). So, wisdom is the principal raw material engaged in creation. If you check the sequence of creation, nothing was done and then reversed. Before the animals came, the grass was waiting; everything was in order.
According to the Scripture, there are four types of wisdom: earthly wisdom, which is common sense; sensual wisdom, which is intellectual sense; diabolical wisdom; and the wisdom from above, which is divine wisdom. Divine wisdom is pure; it is explainable (James 3:15-17). Recognise that success is not a destination but an adventure. It is not a point you get to; it is an unending movement, but it is achieved little by little (Exodus 23:30, 7:22). God does it little by little to secure your future. The human race is in billions on the earth today, but it began with only one man and one woman (Job 8:7; Proverbs 20:21; 2 Peter 3:9; Exodus 13:17). So, beware of hurry; it is the highway to horror. Learn patience so you don’t become a patient.
What is divine wisdom?
According to the Scripture, divine wisdom is knowing the right way to go from the Word and going there (Psalm 119:105; Isaiah 55:8-9). In His Word are His ways, and they are the highways of life. Wisdom is also knowing the right thing to do from the Word and doing it (Matthew 7:24-25). Doing what the Word says to do is wisdom. For instance, the Bible says: Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts (Malachi 3:10-11; see also Malachi 4:1-2). This is not what to pray for but what to do. Nobody will taste financial fortune without being a giver according to the dictates of the scriptures, beginning with tithe and kingdom promotion endeavours, with delight. Wealth in the kingdom is a product of God’s wisdom at work (Proverbs 8:18). Financial success is anchored in doing what God says, which brings a man under financial fortune.
Access to divine wisdom demands the following:
- The fear of the Lord. After salvation, the capital access to the flow of divine wisdom is the fear of God as a lifestyle. Without the fear of God, you do not have access to the realm of wisdom, and as such, you will keep struggling with those in the terrestrial realm when you have a space in the celestial (Isaiah 55:8). No school under heaven can match God’s wisdom. As it is written: Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men (1 Corinthians 1:25).
- Prayer and fasting. The Bible says: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… (James 1:5; See also Daniel 2:16-19; 2 Corinthians 11:27; 2 Peter 3:15). Among others, God prescribed prayer and fasting for the outbreak of light, and divine wisdom is called light (Daniel 5:11; Jeremiah 33:3).
- Commitment to the study of the Word as a lifestyle. God’s Word is God’s wisdom in print (Luke 11:49; 1 Corinthians 1:24; Psalm 19:7; 2 Timothy 3:15, 2:15; 4:13). So, build a Word study culture; don’t wait till there is fellowship.
- Learn from those who have gone ahead of you with proofs. There are patriarchs of faith in every field of business who have engaged in working with God; go after them (Hebrews 6:11-16; Jeremiah 6:16).
- Engage in the art of meditation. Mediation helps enhance and enlarge your understanding (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3, 119:97-100).
You belong to the top, and the divine wisdom factor is one of the requirements in your quest for success in any area you desire.
