INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

Rights, Justice, Action for Every Woman

Julia raised her hand slowly.

Not because she didn’t know the answer, but because she wasn’t sure she was allowed to have one.

She had learned—subtly and quietly—that sometimes it was better to shrink. To let others speak. To not “be too much.” To dream, but not too big.

Now, how many Julias are sitting in classrooms, in churches, in boardrooms, in homes, waiting for permission to fully exist?

This year’s International Women’s Day theme isn’t playful. It’s bold. It’s demanding rights, justice and action for all women and girls.

Not just the confident ones.

Not just the privileged ones.

Not just the ones who already have a platform. All.

Before society labelled her, God had already defined her. Created in His image.

When Jesus Christ was on the earth, He didn’t sideline women. He restored dignity, He listened, He defended, and He revealed Himself first to them after the resurrection.

In a culture that often minimised women, He made them witnesses of history.

Rights mean a girl should never have to apologise for her voice.

Justice means silence in the face of oppression is not an option.

Action means we don’t just clap on Sundays; we build environments where women and girls can grow without fear.

Think of Esther, a young woman who risked her life because justice demanded it. She could have stayed comfortable. She didn’t, and generations were saved because she chose courage over convenience. That same courage is needed now.

It looks like mentoring the teenage girl who doubts herself. It looks like correcting harmful narratives in love, but firmly. It looks like giving women space to lead, create, preach, and innovate. It looks like fathers raising daughters who know their worth. It looks like churches that protect, not silence.

And here’s the truth: empowering women does not weaken men. It strengthens communities. When a woman rises, she doesn’t rise alone; she lifts families, systems, and futures with her.

Maybe today you are Julia. Maybe you’re still raising your hand slowly. Hear this clearly: you do not need permission to shine in the space God has called you to occupy.

Maybe today you are in a position to make room for someone else. Don’t hesitate.

International Women’s Day is more than a celebration. It is a reminder, a responsibility and a call.

Let’s build a community where no girl learns to shrink and a generation that chooses courage over comfort.

Happy International Women’s Day.
